Better together – the benefits of working within a cluster, federation or multi-academy trust (MAT)

EduCare work with leading MATs and geographical school cluster groups to provide consistent safeguarding training with discounts available for buying as part of a larger group.

The Conservative government is increasing the importance of schools working together in collaboration. In the Governance Handbook, published by the DfE, John Nash, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Schools, states that he wants “to see more schools seeking out opportunities to collaborate”.

This could either be academies working together as multi-academy trust or schools working together in their cluster.

He goes on to say “working together is about better teaching and a broader curriculum for pupils; greater leadership and development opportunities for teachers; and more efficiency and impact from financial and other resources.”

The benefits of working within a cluster, federation or multi-academy trust:

  • Financial savings - By working together and buying through one central source, cluster groups and MATs have increased buying power.
  • Assurance - Sharing experience and knowledge provides the assurance that decisions can be made through a collaborative approach.
  • Consistency - By working as part of a larger team, consistency of practice, experience and messaging can be achieved throughout a cluster or MAT.
  • Efficient working - With the responsibilities for schools becoming broader, whilst budgets are reduced, it is vital that the way in which all staff work is improved and streamlined. By working as part of a larger team, responsibilities can be shared and efficiencies made.

EduCare can help

As the UK’s leading provider of online Safeguarding and Duty of Care training we work with a range of member organisations, including the Independent Association of Preparatory Schools (IAPS) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) as well as large MATs and school clusters.

Members of such organisations are able to access EduCare for Education®, EduCare’s leading safeguarding service, at a discounted rate.

EduCare for Education® includes a broad range of training courses which ensure that each school can be confident that all their moral and legal safeguarding and duty of care obligations are met. As all of EduCare’s training is delivered online, each school can access the same level of training throughout the year, regardless of when inset days are set, or when new staff arrive. And as the service includes a robust reporting suite, the progress of each and every leaner can be tracked and evidence of learning provided to inspectors.
